This is a negoza (sleeping mat) made from domestically grown (Yatsushiro, Kumamoto Prefecture) rush grass. Each stalk of domestically grown rush grass is thick, has a thick outer skin and fine fibers, making it elastic and durable. Rush grass has the following effects: 1.
It absorbs moisture about three times faster than cotton, reducing the dampness caused by sweat. 2. It regulates humidity, preventing stuffiness and promoting a comfortable sleep. 3. It reduces odor by suppressing more than 90% of the chemicals that cause sweat odor.
The rush grass has been treated with Aomori hiba (cypress) (antibacterial and deodorizing effects)..
Made in Japan by a rush-grass maker in Kyushu with more than 130 years of history. Each mat is woven from domestically grown igusa, prized for its thick, resilient stalks and its natural ability to regulate humidity and freshen the air.
Care: Wipe with a dry cloth or vacuum gently. Air out regularly and keep away from moisture and prolonged direct sunlight. Do not wash with water. Natural rush grass mellows from green to a warm golden tone with use.
