Hinoki cypress (Chamaecyparis obtusa) is Japan's most treasured wood for the bath, renowned for its warm, calming aroma and exceptional moisture resistance.
An essential accessory in the Japanese bath ritual, this wooden bath bucket is used to scoop and pour warm water. The natural wood releases a gentle, calming aroma when in contact with hot water.
Handcrafted in Japan by skilled artisans using sustainably sourced Hinoki Cypress. Each piece carries the natural grain and character unique to handmade wooden goods.
Origin: Made in Japan
Specifications
- Size: Approx. 15 cm outer diameter × 12 cm height × 23 cm handle height (≈ 5.9 in × 4.7 in × 9.1 in)
- Material: Hinoki Cypress
Care:
- After each use, rinse off soap and shampoo and wipe it dry. Residue left on the wood can cause discoloration and mold.
- Once dry, store the bucket upside down in a room kept at around 50% humidity. If the wood dries out too much, it shrinks and the hoops can slip.
- Keep it away from direct sunlight, heaters, and dryers, which can cause warping and cracking.
- If a hoop slips, turn the bucket upside down, place a scrap of wood on the hoop, and tap it back into its groove with a hammer. Then soak the bucket in water and the hoop will hold firmly again.
- Natural resin may come to the surface. It is harmless. Soften it with hot water, then wipe it off with rubbing alcohol. A faint mark may remain, but the stickiness will go.
